Celebrating Diwali at NITSAN: A Festival of Lights and Giving
30 Oct 2024
Diwali the "Festival of Lights," is one of India’s most celebrated festivals. This occasion represents the victory of light over darkness and good over evil. Families come together to decorate their homes with oil lamps, lights, and colorful Rangoli designs. Diwali is also a time for sharing sweets, giving gifts, and performing prayers for prosperity and peace. It’s a season of joy, unity, and spreading happiness in the community.
Why We Celebrate Diwali
Diwali’s roots go back to the story of Lord Rama, who returned to Ayodhya after 14 years in exile. The people celebrated his return by lighting oil lamps, marking the victory of light over darkness and good over evil.
Across India, Diwali also has different meanings. Some honor the goddess Lakshmi for prosperity, while others celebrate Lord Krishna’s defeat of the demon Narakasura. These stories reflect a shared belief in hope, unity, and the power of light to overcome darkness.
NSmile Initiative: Giving Back to the Community
At NITSAN, we believe that Diwali is not just about celebration; it’s also about giving back. Through our NSmile initiative, we focus on helping the community. Every year, the team distributes essential items like clothes, food, and other goods to people in need. This effort brings smiles and warmth to many, reflecting the true spirit of Diwali by spreading light and happiness beyond our workplace.
